Expert Survey: Israel – Social Divisions and Relations with the U.S.

This expert study serves as the foundation for developing tools to assess Israeli public opinion on key issues of domestic and foreign policy.

Previous research has identified several important trends:

•   Significant differences in expectations between secular and religious groups of Israelis.

•   A correlation between political preferences and expectations from the U.S. elections.

•   A consensus on the impact of the election results on Israel’s national security.

A high level of awareness regarding the conflict between the Collective West and the Global South (70% of respondents, July 2024).

•   A lack of consensus on the optimal geopolitical positioning of Israel.

•   The perception of Israel’s high dependence on the U.S. in key areas, particularly in military security, the economy, and foreign policy.

The current expert survey aims to deepen the understanding of complex socio-political processes in Israel and includes the following objectives:

•   To study the dynamics of relations between Israel and the U.S. in the context of ongoing socio-political processes.

•   To identify and analyze the main lines of social divisions within Israeli society;

The experts included prominent Israeli political scientists, rabbis, journalists, and NGO activists.

Expert interviews based on the developed questionnaire were conducted on August 13-20, 2024.
