QUESTION 1

On the question of how much it is in Israel’s interest to combine American aid (military, humanitarian, financial) to Israel and Ukraine in one package, all respondents answered unequivocally in the negative. Here are some responses: “It is not in Israel’s interest. Israel has a future, while Ukraine is doomed (in its current configuration, at least).” “Clearly not in Israel’s interest. Israel incurs reputational losses and, in public opinion, becomes associated with Ukraine’s failures on the front.” “Although the U.S. is actively trying to link these two conflicts, the question of American aid is a competition for resources between Israel and Ukraine, for weapons and other means of warfare (drones, reconnaissance tools, etc.)” Many experts understand the situation in this way.

The respondents’ answers also point to the manipulative nature of such a combination. According to them, Biden’s linking of these military conflicts is seen as “a provocative combination leading to the escalation of a global conflict; pulling Israel from a neutral stance in the war between Russia and Ukraine into the zone of support for Ukraine. Israel becomes a tool for the U.S. in maintaining a unipolar world in the U.S. model.” “For almost 40 years, Israel has had stable relations with the U.S. in military-technical cooperation and regular contractual relations in this sphere. Today, Ukraine, essentially, in its growing ambitions, disrupts the established system of relations. It can be said that Ukraine attaching itself to Israel in this matter is a clear attempt to manipulate congressmen who have been providing support to the Jewish state for many years.”
